My name is Jake Leoni. I'm a dual US-Canadian citizen and lifelong Spanish speaker with deep roots in Latin American culture and language. Spanish isn't something I studied — it's what I speak at home, with family, every day.

I built Leoni Professional Services out of something I kept seeing: talented, capable people arriving in Toronto who were blocked not by their skills, but by language. A missed medical appointment. A job application that didn't cross over. A government form that sat unanswered for months. These aren't small problems — they shape people's entire trajectories here.

My background is in operations — specifically client relations, process management, and training. That means I'm not just translating words; I understand systems, documents, and bureaucratic processes from the inside out. When I help you with a government form, I understand what that form is actually asking for.

Why newcomer pricing?

Because access to language support is not a luxury. The people who need interpretation and translation the most are often the ones who can afford it the least. Newcomer pricing is a permanent part of how I run this business — not a promotion, not an asterisk.

All services are non-certified. For contexts requiring ATIO-certified or court-certified professionals, please see the Disclaimer page — I'm happy to help with referrals.

Important: All translation and interpretation provided by Leoni Professional Services is non-certified. Our services are not produced by a member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO) or any equivalent certifying body. Please read this page fully before engaging our services.

Non-Certified Services

Leoni Professional Services provides non-certified translation and interpretation. This means our work is performed by a skilled, bilingual professional — but not by an ATIO-certified translator or interpreter, nor by any member of a regulated professional body.

Non-certified services are appropriate for many everyday needs: personal documents, general correspondence, community appointments, job applications, professional emails, and similar purposes. They are not appropriate for all contexts — see below.

Where Certified Services Are Required

Our services cannot be used in place of certified professional services in the following contexts:

  • Legal proceedings, court hearings, or appearances before any judicial or quasi-judicial tribunal
  • Immigration applications or hearings before the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) where certified interpretation or translation is required
  • Documents requiring an official ATIO certification stamp, notarization, or sworn translation
  • Clinical or regulated medical interpretation contexts governed by provincial health standards
  • Any governmental or official process that explicitly requires a certified professional
  • Any context where your institution, authority, or counterparty requires ATIO or equivalent certification

We can help. If your situation requires certified services, please contact us — we are happy to assist you in identifying and connecting with qualified ATIO-certified translators and interpreters serving Toronto and the GTA.

Not Legal, Immigration, or Medical Advice

Nothing provided by Leoni Professional Services constitutes legal, immigration, medical, or any other form of regulated professional advice. We assist with the process of communication and document navigation — we are not lawyers, notaries, regulated immigration consultants (RCICs), or health professionals.

Government form assistance is provided as guided completion support only. It is your sole responsibility to verify the accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness of all information submitted to any authority or institution.

Accuracy & Limitation of Liability

While we make every reasonable effort to produce accurate, clear, and faithful translations and interpretations, Leoni Professional Services makes no warranty — express or implied — regarding the legal sufficiency, official accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose of any work provided.

Leoni Professional Services shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, adverse decision, or other negative outcome arising from reliance on our services in any official, legal, or regulated capacity.

Questions & Referrals

If you are unsure whether your situation requires certified services, we encourage you to ask — we will always give you an honest answer and will never take on work that falls outside our appropriate scope.

For referrals to ATIO-certified professionals, or for any questions about this disclaimer, please reach out through the Contact page.
